Top 5 factors to consider before you design a web site

If you’re looking to design a web site, it’s important to make sure it’s designed well—and that means more than just making sure the colors are pretty. It means understanding how your users will interact with your site and what kind of visual impact you want the finished product to have. In this post, I’ll walk you through some of the most important things to consider when designing a new site so that yours ends up being successful and easy for people to use.

Hire a designer

Once you’ve identified the type of work you need to design a web site, it’s time to hire a designer. Here are some tips:

  • Find someone whose style is similar to what you want your site to look like.

  • Ask for references and testimonials from past clients. This will help give you an idea of how well they communicate and how quickly they deliver projects.

  • Make sure they have experience in the field (or fields) where your site will be used. For example, if your website is going to be used by consumers as well as businesses, then make sure the designer has worked on consumer-oriented websites before – or at least knows how consumer-oriented websites are different from business-oriented ones!

  • Make sure that this person communicates well with others – not just through email but also through phone calls and meetings in person if possible!

Decide on a color scheme

  • Make sure the colors are easy to read.

  • Make sure the colors show up well on all devices, not just your laptop or desktop computer. Mobile use is very imporant when it comes time to design a web site.

  • Make sure people remember your site by using a color scheme that will stick in their minds (for example, yellow has been proven to be one of the easiest colors for people to remember).

  • Make sure you can easily match your logo with your color scheme.

Choose fonts

Choosing the right font can be tricky. The first thing you should do is make sure that it’s readable, then choose a font that is consistent with your brand and your target market. It also needs to look good in conjunction with the design of your web site. If you’re not sure where to start, try searching for fonts by popularity (similarity between font style and content), or use an application like Adobe TypeKit or Google Fonts, which gives users access to hundreds of free fonts for web use.

Establish a layout

The layout of your website is extremely important because it can make or break the design of a web site. A poor layout will lead to a slow loading time, which will cause people to leave your site before they’ve even read any content. They won’t want to be forced to wait for a page load when they just want information on the topic they’re looking for.

When choosing a layout, keep these tips in mind:

  • Choose an easy-to-navigate design that is simple and intuitive. If something seems confusing or out of place, like having different navigation options than the ones you would expect, then users are likely not going to feel confident using your site at all—and they certainly won’t return! An easy-to-use design makes it easier for visitors who may not have visited many other sites before yours (or don’t know what kind of information they should be looking for).

  • Make sure everything is easy to find on every page within seconds by placing links where visitors need them most often: top left corner near logo; near top right corner above header text; bottom left corner below footer text; bottom right corner under page content at end; middle area between header/footer images or text sections (if possible). For example if this was done correctly then if one were browsing through various pages on our blog then there would always be quick links available no matter where we were at within each article so as soon as possible after clicking start reading that page links would appear immediately below each heading allowing us access quickly navigate back home again anytime without needing wait around while things load unnecessarily slowly due to bad formatting choices made earlier on during creation process.

Choose images

Choosing images is one of the most important things you can do when you design a web site. Images should be relevant to the content on your site, high quality and in the right format.

You don’t want to choose an image that doesn’t relate with what you are trying to communicate as this will just confuse visitors and cause them not to engage with your site. You also need to make sure that any images which are used are high quality so they don’t look pixelated or blurry when people view them on their devices. Finally, if an image has been taken from another source then it must be credited properly (e.g., photographer’s name) otherwise this could lead people believing that it was created by you or by someone else who works for your company – neither of which is good for branding!

You need to be careful when designing your website.

You need to be careful when you design a web site. You’ll want to consider the audience, the purpose of the site, and how you want people to feel when they visit it.

If you are creating a website for an existing business, there are probably many considerations already in place regarding why your company needs a website and what its goals might be. If this is not the case, then it is up to you—the designer—to make decisions about these things before proceeding with design work.

Conclusion

Designing your web site is not as simple as it sounds. You need to be careful when choosing colors, fonts and images because they affect how users perceive your site. If you want your site to look professional, hire a designer who understands how these elements work together.
